United States Senator Kamala Harris’s star was already rising fast when she jumped into the race for the Democratic presidential nomination in early 2019. This ended prematurely when she stopped her campaign s and 3 months later joined former US Vice president Joe Biden’s campaign.
A while ago, Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden picked her as his runningmate.
On his Twitter account, Biden said
“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris— a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.”
Harris also took to her Twitter account in her acceptance and said
, “@JoeBiden can unify the American people because he’s spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he’ll build an America that lives up to our ideals. I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.”
Harris, 55, the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India, is a former California state attorney general who became popular with liberal activists for her tough questioning of appointees and officials from the administration of President Donald Trump – including Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, during Senate hearings.
Harris made history in 2016 when she became the first Black woman elected to the US Senate from California
