Mzalendo Watch which tracks the activities of Kenyan legislators has released the 2019 scorecard for performance of MPs in the Senate and the National Assembly.
Narok senator Ledma Ole Kina (spoke 461 times), Bungoma’s Moses Wetang’ula (Spoke for 420 times), Kericho representative Aaron Cheruiyot and Migori’s Ochillo Ayacko emerged as best performers in overall.
Nominated senators Gertrude Musuruve, Abshiro Ahalake, Farhiya Ali and Agnes Zani were the best performing female MPs in the Senate.Only one never spoke as six senators spoke for less than ten times.
Busia senator Amos Wako led the worst performing representatives with zero contribution in the entire 2019 while his Kajiado colleague Philip Mpaayei managed to address the House only once.Others were Mercy Chebei and Christine Zawadi Gona (both nominated) who had six and five contributions respectively.
Young performing seanators were:Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja, Samson Cherargei (Nandi) and Moses Kajwang’ (Homa Bay)
