679 Coronavirus cases were confirmed today 12th August 2020 by the Ministry of Health after testing 6,590 samples in the last 24 hours.During the daily briefing Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said that the cases now rise to 28,104.
658 of the these cases were Kenyan nationals while 21 were foreigners.
In terms of gender, 400 were male while 279 were female.
The youngest victim was a one month old infant and the oldest an 87 year old person.
743 were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 14,610.
685 of these persons were on home-based care program while 58 were from various hospitals across the country.
18 people lost their lives bringing the total fatalities to 456
The head of Corporate Affairs at Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri), Kamau Mugenda was among those who died due to covid -19.
15 of the deceased persons had underlying conditions including asthma, kidney failure, hypertension and diabetes.

Nairobi (349), Mombasa (16), Kiambu (69), Kajiado (35), Machakos (25), Nyeri (23), Nyandarua (13), Laikipia (9), Kisumu (7), Meru (5), Murang’a (4), Trans Nzoia (4), Vihiga (2), Kakamega (1).
